The Importance of Good Content in Your Website

Jul 18, 2014 by Paul

Content is King. Adding content is at the heart of search engine optimisation (SEO) because it's key to whether your website is popular or unpopular with search engines.  If you have the right kind of content which is truly informative in addition to containing popular keywords, you’re likely to be ranked highly with Google and Bing. Here are a few tips to make sure that your content works for you:

Readability

Keywords

It’s really important to use keywords but to avoid overusing them.  Plus, it really doesn’t help if you use keywords just because they’re popular if they don’t have much to do with your product or service.  For example, if you’re selling financial services, there’s no point in using the keyword “Robert Pattinson” because the two have nothing to do with each other.  So use popular keywords but make sure that they are relevant to you and your product.

Diversity

It’s really important to branch out as much as you can when it comes to your website content.  Try to appeal to a large audience.  For example, if you’re selling a product that can appeal to various age groups, write about the various ways in which it can be used by these different age groups.  Or if you’re trying to appeal to several minorities, address them all through your content.  You might have to start a blog so that you can keep writing about the various ramifications of using your product.  This will help greatly in improving your rankings.

Clarity

In the long run, it’s important for your content to be well-written, with no spelling or grammar mistakes and no awkward sentence formations.  People gravitate towards websites where they know that the content is clear, interesting and readable.  In the short term, you may be able to get good rankings without clarity of content but in the long run, you’ll have to provide quality if you want people to keep coming back.
