A Successful Website Design Takes Thought and Skill

Jan 29, 2013 by Paul

When it comes to creating an effective website design, start with the basics.

Know your target audience - your clients and potential clients, and know what you have to offer: yourself, your skills, and your product that set you apart from anyone else.

You've heard these questions before, and it's important to answer them to ensure that your campaign represents you and what you have to offer.  They are:

  • Who are you?
  • What makes you special?
  • How is what you offer different from what someone else offers?
  • What's your contact information? Where are you located?
  • And, of course, how?  How can they get you, your skills, your service, your product?

Your answers are required to create that solid, professional web design that you need to connect to your clients and to boost your business.

The information that you provide will determine the look and feel of the website's pages. It helps to set the tone.

And, it's your website that counts as the first impression that you're giving potential clients - the one that it's difficult to change - and that will reassure your existing clients.

How you choose to present yourself will also help to determine the links that will go on your page, and the number of pages to have.

Your site should include a homepage with an invitation to explore the rest of the site and the pages that provide your content, the carefully worded explanations about what you do or offer.  It will also provide strategically placed buttons that link to shopping carts, orders and methods of pay.
