3 Drawbacks of Online Shopping Websites and How to Overcome Them

Jun 14, 2019 by kidd

Nowadays, despite the perceived drawbacks of online shopping, more and more people are giving it a shot because it also has many advantages. First of all, online shopping is convenient; you don't have to leave the comfort of your home in order to go shopping. You don't have to try on clothes in a badly-lit fitting room (believe it or not, this can actually be a huge problem for many people). You can try on the clothes you ordered in the comfort of your home, in front of a mirror that you use everyday. This helps you to feel more comfortable. Plus, nowadays, there are also many good deals available on the internet, which encourages people to shop online rather than in retail stores.

Shipping Items in Time

There are also some drawbacks to online shopping. First of all, you don't get the product in your hands immediately. This is a problem that you can solve for your customers by making sure that you send out the products ordered immediately. You can also give them an express shipping option so that they get the product in a few days.

Items Look Different Online

Another drawback is that the product may not be everything that the customer expects it to be. It may look better in photographs than in real life. One way to get around this is to make sure that the product is not displayed in an unrealistic way. You can also write down the material that the product is made from and the exact color and size/dimensions. If it's a piece of clothing, include the washing instructions. If it's an appliance, you can mention the speed at which it works.

Availability in Colors/Sizes

Yet another drawback is that the product may not be available in the exact color or size that the customer is looking for. The way to get around this is to make sure that you stock all the colors and sizes that people may be looking for. If you've run out of sizes or colors, it's best to just take the product off your website.
