3 Tips to Optimize Your Content for Search Engine Traffic

Dec 6, 2019 by admin

Optimizing a website for SEO in 2019 can be complicated. Google seems to change its' algorithm on a daily basis. That being said, you don't have to make SEO difficult. Google has made it clear that they value informative content. Thus, if you make some smart tweaks to the way you present your content, you will increase your website's search engine ranking.

Here are 3 tips to optimize your content for search engine traffic:

1. Increase Reader Engagement

Google has clearly indicated that they highly value how a reader interacts with search engine results. This includes the click-through rate (CTR) on the search engine results page, how long a reader stays on your website, and whether they share your content on social media.

To increase reader engagement, first ensure that you have your title and description down. Next, provide clear, well-written content that answers a reader's query with authoritative information. This will show Google your content is informative, and thus worthy of being ranked high in the search engine.

2. Change The Title To "How To"

A how-to title dramatically boosts your search engine traffic. Google absolutely loves content that teaches users how to do things properly. In addition, these pieces of content are often longer and more in-depth than typical articles and blog posts. So, focus your content around cluster articles and rename titles to "how to" when appropriate.

In the "how-to" article, answer the question as soon as possible. Preferably, give at least a general answer (you can get more nuanced later in the article) within the first 3 paragraphs. Google recognizes that you are giving readers what they want quickly, thus your content will rank better.

3. Give The Reader Multiple Options

A few years ago, Google unveiled RankBrain, a new program designed to use AI to improve search engine results. It has been clarified that the AI is looking for content that provides a nuanced yet helpful view to the reader.

In other words, the algorithm likes content that provides many ways of looking at the search query. List posts are an excellent way to satisfy this fulfillment. Also, consider think pieces that provide multiple informative viewpoints on a topic.
