How to make the most of an hour of social media

Sep 13, 2016 by

Using social media platforms effectively are a key component in search engine optimisation, but can be hard to maintain when you're time poor. But if you commit to setting aside an hour every day for social engagement, social media can play a productive role in your organisation.

The following are some of the things you could do:

  • Reply to comments left on your Facebook account: Customers appreciate responsiveness. It gives them greater incentive to keep engaging with you.
  • Retweet and reply to customers and clients on Twitter: Make sure you're using Twitter for engagement, and not just tweeting things at people.
  • Launch a contest: Contests are a fun, exciting way to increase engagement online and spotlight your customers' creativity and contributions.
  • Open up to people with a Q&A session: This could involve general questions about your business, or it could focus on a specific project, product, or initiative.
  • Share content that isn't purely promotional: Don't just tweet about your products or your business more generally. For example, share an infographic or an informative article about a topic related to your business.
  • Engage with other people in your industry: Take the opportunity to connect not only with customers, but with other business owners, entrepreneurs, and experts.
  • Explore new social media territory: Maybe it's time to venture out to a new platform you hadn't thought of using before. Or maybe you've already set up an account, but haven't posted anything to it in months; would it be a good idea to revive it?
